The Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS) has released guidance in relation to the use of their logo and contact details by members. Financial service providers who are members of FOS are required to ensure their clients are aware of FOS and their right to lodge a complaint with FOS about the financial service provider. Members must ensure that their Financial Services Guide (FSG) and Product Disclosure Statement (PDS) include the contact details of FOS.
FOS is encouraging members to include their new logo and other contact details, including FOS’ new free call contact telephone number: 1800 367 287. The name of FOS has recently changed to “the Financial Ombudsman Service Australia” to ensure members and their clients are aware that FOS is a national service. Financial service providers who are members of FOS should update their FSG and PDS to ensure:
- the new contact telephone number of FOS is included
- FOS is referred to by its new name: Financial Ombudsman Service Australia; and
- the correct FOS logo is included with all of FOS’ contact details.
The FOS logo must only be used for the purposes of advising clients of their right to contact FOS. The logo must not be used to imply any endorsement of the member by FOS, or any endorsement of the products or services provided by the member.
